When I started this blog, it was with every intention of having a fabulous foodie summer (which I did) and writing about it here (which I did not). However, as most things go and not being very disciplined I only got half the job done. We smoked brisket, ribs, chicken, pork and a turkey. We grilled corn, steaks, burgers, dogs, pork and chicken. We made salads, had potatoes in a variety of ways, cooked up rice and pasta and made quesedillas and tacos. Home made ice-cream sweetened the meal along with strawberry short cake and birthday cupcakes. We ate out on may occasions as well. None of this was photographed and documented. If I hadn't enjoyed eating it as much as I did, I might be ashamed, but I'm not. The purpose of good food is not in writing about it, but it is in the enjoyment. I will try to be better at writing about it too in order to keep this blog current.
This week I have been cooking through some recipes that I wrote out of a cookbook at a home I was staying at this past weekend. I haven't taken any pictures so far, but will try to do so tonight so that when I write about this week's cookfest, I can dress up the page with nice pics! So far I have cooked salmon and chicken from the purloined recipes, and tonight will be pork chop. I snuck in a grilled t-bone in the midst of these. Signing off now, optimistic that my next post is a few short days away!

Beginners Blog
Wow, a first time blogger, a neophyte! That would be me, G-ma! I got my name from my grandson, who like most youngsters, try to reduce everything to the smallest form they can get away with. My granddaughter has reduced it even further to G, but I must have the "ma" at the end as I am much more than just a letter! I do see they are making purses just for me with the "G" all over them. I am pretty lucky for a company to think I am that special. Unfortunately, I get no royalties. (they don't think I am THAT special!)
It isn't surprising in this day and age to be so reduced. Language is evolving to letters spun together with no rules. No longer do you need a vowel to make a word. All the short forms that are used now. I can lol, but I am still trying to figure out how to roflmao while at the keyboard. Rolling on the floor isn't quite as easy as it was 4 decades or so ago, and although it might be bigger than I would choose I will keep my a on rather than off please. There would be a whole world of trouble I would not want if it were gone! So I can be found on FB, twitter, a gaming site called Pogo and now here on Blogspot! What a different life it is for youngsters today then when I was growing up with beatniks - hippies - the beatles - vietnam - college shootings - "all we are saying is give peace a chance" John Lennon.
There I did it. My first blog! Well don't I feel just a little smug. :-)
